A tragic boating accident on Lake Tahoe has claimed the lives of eight people, including DoorDash executive Joshua Pickles and his parents. The group had gathered to celebrate a birthday when their boat capsized during a sudden storm near D.L. Bliss State Park.
The 27-foot vessel was caught in strong winds and waves up to 10 feet, leading to the boat overturning. Of the ten people on board, only two survived. Rescue teams from multiple agencies searched for days, recovering the final victim three days later.
Friends, family, and colleagues have expressed heartbreak. DoorDash honored Pickles’ legacy, while others remembered the victims — including retired plumber Timothy O’Leary and Stephen Lindsay — for their kindness and dedication to loved ones.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office shared footage of the dangerous lake conditions and praised the coordinated rescue efforts. Officials and witnesses described the storm as sudden and severe, making the recovery mission both urgent and challenging.
