He Made Me Take a $15K Loan for His Mom—Then She Denied Everything

Posted on July 7, 2025 By admin

For 16 years, I thought I had a stable, if imperfect, marriage. My husband, Andrew, always prioritized his mother over me, but I kept the peace for the sake of our daughter. That changed when he begged me to take out a $15,000 loan for his mom, claiming she’d repay it within a month. He said taking the loan himself could harm his job at the bank. Against my better judgment, I agreed—on the condition she’d repay me quickly.

A month passed, and there was no repayment. I politely asked my mother-in-law, Susan, about it, only to receive a shocking response: “I never borrowed a cent from you.” When I showed Andrew the message, he shrugged and admitted she never intended to pay me back. The money, he confessed, went toward Susan’s cosmetic surgery and luxury shopping spree in Turkey—all while I was stuck repaying the loan.

What they didn’t know was that I’d recorded the moment I handed Andrew the money. I took the evidence and went straight to a lawyer. With proof of deceit and manipulation, I filed for divorce and pressed fraud charges. Susan’s threat to cut Andrew out of her will had been a lie—the property wasn’t even legally hers.

Though rebuilding my life hasn’t been easy, I’m now focused on giving my daughter a healthy home and a better example of self-respect. The loan became more than a financial burden—it was the wake-up call I needed to walk away from emotional manipulation disguised as family loyalty.
