Keith McAllister, 61, tragically died after being pulled into an MRI machine at a private facility in Westbury, New York. His wife, Adrienne Jones-McAllister, was with him during the accident and described how the powerful magnetic force of the machine “snatched him” while she was having an MRI on her knee. Despite wearing a heavy metal chain around his neck, Keith was allowed into the room, which contributed to the fatal incident.
Adrienne recalled the terrifying moment when the machine suddenly grabbed Keith and spun him around. She and the technician tried desperately to free him, but the magnet’s strength was overwhelming. She pleaded for the machine to be turned off and for emergency help, but unfortunately, Keith was fatally injured and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
MRI machines are known for their strong magnetic fields, which can be dangerous if metal objects are nearby. According to experts, the magnetic force can be powerful enough to move heavy objects across a room. Safety protocols typically require removing metal items like jewelry or chains before entering the MRI room, but in this case, the chain was overlooked despite previous warnings.
The Nassau County Police Department is investigating the incident. Adrienne, grieving and shocked by the loss, shared how hard it is to come to terms with what happened. She recalled the last moments with her husband, saying he waved goodbye before his body went limp, highlighting the sudden and heartbreaking nature of the tragedy.
